Proverbs 26:2 proves that generational curses cannot be passed down to future generations. But wait! Is that true? The verse says, “As snow in summer and rain in harvest, so honor is not fitting for a fool. Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow, a curse that is causeless does not alight.” An understanding of the Hebrew helps. There are four Hebrew words that are translated into the English word ‘curse’ but only one of them is actually an imprecation, a curse. The Hebrew word in this verse does not mean ‘curse’ but is the word for honor. The verse is about honor; not about a curse.
