Dominion

Some time ago, as I was ministering, I came across an evil force called a dominion which told me it had authority over material items. It was not until November,1996 that I gained further understanding about this spiritual being.

It appears that when a declaration is made that something “belongs to me” there is an evil spiritual connection formed between the individual and the object. The object may range in size from a small item to a large land mass. Therefore, if ownership is declared over a piece of property it is, in essence, given over to the enemy (i.e. high place), and an ungodly spiritual connection called a dominion is formed between the individual and the object. Dominions may be related to ley lines and many other spiritual connections, and understanding them may explain why psychics are able to handle physical objects and discern the location of a person by simply be sensing or seeing the lines connected to an evil dominion.

One therapist I was working with had a vision of an evil dominion as a "covering" over the whole earth (one entity). He also saw a globe with lines, as well as what appeared to be power points with eight lines coming from the center point (forming eight triangles off of the one point). It appears these are ley lines.

Another therapist saw three sets of ley lines—one in the sky, one on earth and one under the earth. Perhaps Philippians 2:10 is pertinent, “that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.”

What is a dominion and what does it do? The search for the answer begins in the Bible in the following two scriptures:

1 Corinthians 15:24—Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power.

Ephesians 1:21—far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.


The Greek word for dominion is ???kuriotes /koo·ree·ot·ace/] and means “mastery.” It is from the word ?? [kurios /koo·ree·os/] meaning, “he to whom a person or thing belongs, about which he has power of deciding; master, lord, the possessor and disposer of a thing, the owner; one who has control of the person, the master.” Notice that the word denotes a connection between a person and an object or another person.

How then does a fallen dominion affect us? Again, it would appear that when we declare something is “ours” we enter into an ungodly alignment with an evil dominion and the relationship causes a corruption that affects us and the object we are linked with. So, what should our response be?

Scripture Is Clear That All Belongs to the Lord

Psalm 22:27-28—All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him, for dominion belongs to the LORD and he rules over the nations.

1 Corinthians 10:26—for, "The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it."

Ps 24:1—The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;

Job 41:11—Who has a claim against me that I must pay? Everything under heaven belongs to me.


We Are Told to Rule Over Creation in His Name

Gen. 1:26-28—Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

When We Sinned We Gave Over to the Enemy What Was God’s. In Christ we now have the authority to take back what has been given to the enemy and give it back to God. God was clear that the land belonged to Him. The year of Jubilee was an outward manifestation of that truth.

Lev 25:23—The land must not be sold permanently, because the land is mine and you are but aliens and my tenants.

We must first exercise the authority given to us by God and give back all to him that we have that we have given to the enemy. We then ask him to remove the evil dominion and replace it with a righteous dominion. The idea of devoting an object for service to God appears in Leviticus 27:28 where we learn that whatever is devoted to the Lord, whether man, animal, or property, is considered most holy by God and is therefore not to be sold or redeemed by substituting something else. In Numbers 18:14 and Ezekiel 44:29 we learn that all such objects are to be given to the priests for the support of the religious ceremonies. The Old Testament Hebrew word for harem means a "devoted thing;" and Harris OTW says, "Surrendering something to God meant (1) devoting it to the service of God or (2) putting it under a ban for utter destruction.” Because the root word qadash, "to be holy," also carries the thought of setting apart from the ordinary items that are surrendered to God, we must distinguish objects that are set apart because they are holy. Reference again, Leviticus 27:28 in which some objects were to be set apart because they were holy, pleasing, and useful to Him; but the objects to be destroyed were considered to be offensive to God and injurious to his work.

When I first learned the principle described above I immediately wanted to put the information into practice. A therapist I knew was in the process of being sued by the parent of a client who had committed suicide in a hospital. The suit had been in litigation for two years, and even though the therapist had done all she could to help her client, the parent still insisted the therapist was culpable for the death of her adult child. When the Lord revealed the truth about dominions I immediately went into her office and ask her to pray. I led her in a prayer to release of any connection she had with the court case and to release the case to the Lord. The next morning she called and reported that the case had been dropped! How we rejoiced in what the Lord had done!

Others have shared testimonies of another practical application of this understanding of dominions. Remember, we do not own things, but we do have “stewardship over things,” and evidentially there are righteous spiritual lines connecting us to those objects.

One lady had lost a silver Tiffany bracelet missing during a conference in Southern California. She had no idea if it had been dropped in the street where she had parked the car, somewhere she had eaten, or at the very large church. She had not even been aware at first that she had lost the bracelet. Two months later, someone told me about stretching our line of dominion over the things we’d lost, so she prayed this, “Lord, in the name of Jesus, I stretch my line of dominion over the silver bracelet and ask that it be returned to me, thank you’. At the end of that week, she received a message from the church office saying that they had found her bracelet and needed an address where they could send it.

One of our intercessors had lost her faithful little dog. Not only had the dog never gone missing before, but the duration of the absence was so long she feared the worst. She prayed that her line of dominion would be extended over the dog and that God would bring it back. When she got home the dog was there waiting for her.

Evil dominions are defeated when, through prayer, we give back to God what we have taken. We ask Him to utterly destroy that which is "not of Him and to make Holy that which is of Him." We then ask Him to remove the influences of the evil dominion and reestablish the authority of the righteous dominion. When this is done, we can walk in the authority the Lord has given to us.
